The Cocohatchee River
Living on the Cocohatchee River
The Cocohatchee River winds through North Naples to Wiggins Pass and the Gulf of Mexico, lined with mangroves, oaks and pines. Homes with real frontage on it are rare, and 216 Cocohatchee Blvd has more than 2,000 feet of it.
The route
From the dock to the Gulf
Head west down the river under three bridges, past the Cocohatchee River Park boat ramp, and out through Wiggins Pass.

Boating to Wiggins Pass and the Gulf
From a private dock on the river, the Gulf is a short run downstream. At 216 Cocohatchee it's about 10 to 15 minutes by boat to Wiggins Pass, with Vanderbilt Beach and the rest of the Naples coast beyond. Bridges cross the river along the way, so clearance matters when choosing a boat.

Fishing from your own backyard
The river's brackish, mangrove-lined water holds snook, redfish and tarpon. At 216 Cocohatchee you can fish from the dock, under the snook light at night, or from spots along the private island nature trail.

Manatee: Keith Ramos / USFWS. Heron: G. Gardner / NPS. Both public domain.
Wildlife on the water
Blue herons wade the shoreline, manatees and dolphins move through the river, and otters and bobcats live in the surrounding wild land. The mangroves keep the river quiet and green year-round.

Cocohatchee River Estates
Along this stretch, Cocohatchee River Estates is a quiet, non-gated neighborhood of large lots west of I-75 and north of Immokalee Road, next to Collier Reserve Country Club and a short golf cart ride from LaPlaya. Estates zoning and no HOA give owners room to build the way they want.
